Yard Clerk
The County of Sonoma is seeking a Yard Clerk to support the Sonoma Public Infrastructure department. The role involves managing yard equipment, materials, and supplies, serving as a liaison between various stakeholders, and ensuring efficient operations within the division.

Responsibilities
Ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking yard equipment, materials, and supplies
Entering road maintenance requests into the County’s asset management system and routing non-maintenance inquiries
Dispatching high-priority road maintenance requests to Foremen
Managing road litter-pickup requests and preparing assignments for contracted litter-collection crews
Preparing assignments for contracted litter-collection crews, and assisting with various road yard operations
Coordinating materials for the Adopt-A-Road program
Daily data entry of completed work orders and projects
Reviewing and auditing Daily Foreman Reports
Qualification
Required
Experience using software to maintain records, prepare daily reports, and submit them in a timely manner
The ability to accurately calculate basic mathematical quantities
Initiative and good decision-making skills in organizing work and carrying out instructions
Experience communicating with and maintaining effective working relationships with vendors, fellow staff, and the public
The ability to learn how to operate a forklift and two-way radio
Any combination of training and experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed
Two years of practical work experience in an office environment, including some experience ordering, receiving, recording, and issuing supplies
The ability to read and write English and perform mathematical calculations at a level for successful job performance
Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the essential job functions of the position
Working knowledge of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies used in maintenance and construction work
Clerical and storekeeping methods and practices
Knowledge of personnel timekeeping procedures
Ability to perform clerical work of a difficult nature and to do some typing of purchase orders, standardized forms, statistics and specifications
Use initiative and discretion in organizing work and carrying out instructions
Make accurate and rapid mathematical calculations
Understand and apply specific codes, regulations, procedures and policies
Select, interpret and explain regulations and procedures to others
Understand and follow complex written and oral instructions
Organize, maintain and process a variety of records and prepare reports
Order and maintain supplies
Operate office equipment including alpha readers, typewriters, calculators, reproducers, adding machines, microfilm equipment, word processors, and electronic data entry equipment
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
Supervise the work of trustees and temporary employees
Operate light vehicles and learn to operate a forklift
Perform tasks which require physical strength and agility
