Responsibilities
Assists customers by identifying solid waste material type, determining the appropriate cost, and appropriate disposal
Distinguishes waste material from recyclable materials and offers instruction to customers as to proper sorting and disposal
Takes the lead role when working with part-time employees at the Solid Waste Management Facility
Maintains a clean workstation at the convenience center
Distinguishes refuse from recyclable materials and offers instruction to customers as to proper sorting and disposal
Picks up spilled debris and maintains a clean area around the convenience site property
Calculates garbage fee totals (on the spot) and provides correct change to customers
Counts cash collected, keeps a daily log, and follows all Union County Cash Handling Procedures
Responds to customer inquiries and provides information regarding items acceptable and unacceptable at the Union County Convenience Center at the Solid Waste Management Facility
Operations a variety of landscaping and light grounds-maintenance machinery. Regular duties include removal of litter from worksite and along county roadways
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED)
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy
Works various shifts including weekends and holidays as assigned
Preferred
High School Diploma and one (1) year of customer service and/or cash handling experience
