Property Accountant - Commercial Real Estate
The Buncher Company is a recognized leader in all phases of real estate development. They are seeking a Property Accountant responsible for managing the financial operations for a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP.

Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including office, industrial, and retail assets
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Record and reconcile general ledger activity, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliation
Coordinate month close processes and ensure timely reporting deadlines are met
Oversee cash management, including bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking
Prepare annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with asset management and property management teams
Analyze budget-to-actual variance, provide explanations and recommendations; and assist with annual budgeting and forecasting
Review abstract lease agreements for financial obligations, and manage common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and tenant billings, as applicable
Support audits and tax preparation reporting requirements
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations
Collaborate with property managers and leadership to provide financial insights
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
A minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate
Strong knowledge of income tax, GAAP and real estate accounting principles
Proficiency in property management software (Yardi, MRI) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise, and compelling messaging for diverse internal and external audiences
Proven ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
