Lock Desk & Secondary Marketing Analyst

As a Lock Desk & Secondary Marketing Analyst, you will manage core processes related to rate locks and pricing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency while collaborating with various teams to protect revenue and reduce risk.

Responsibilities
Manage the daily rate lock workflow by processing initial lock requests, changes, and extensions in Valon’s LOS, pricing tools, and investor portals in line with lock policies and investor guidelines
Monitor internal and investor lock expiration reports to identify upcoming expirations, proactively notify Loan Officers and LO managers, and coordinate appropriate actions to minimize fallout and extension costs
Track and manage items in the secondary marketing task dashboard, ensuring lock-related tasks are prioritized, assigned, and completed within established turnaround times
Lock loans and submit updates with specific investors, ensuring accurate pricing, product selection, and terms based on investor programs and documentation
Review and route lock extension requests, coordinating with the Secondary Marketing Manager to determine whether extensions are appropriate, whether fees apply, and ensuring timely updates with investors
Intake, log, and route pricing exception requests; support the review and documentation of decisions, and communicate outcomes back to sales in a clear and consistent manner
Update and maintain accurate records of all locks, changes, and extensions; assist with periodic reconciliations between internal systems and investor confirmations
Support preparation and distribution of recurring reports and dashboards related to lock activity, pipeline exposure, and key secondary metrics
Serve as a first-line point of contact for basic lock and pricing questions from Loan Officers, escalating complex or nuanced scenarios to the Secondary Marketing Manager as needed
Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting procedures, identifying recurring issues or bottlenecks, and suggesting process or tooling enhancements

Qualification
Required
2+ years of professional experience in financial services, lending operations, capital markets, or another analytical, process-driven environment OR a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field
Comfort working with numbers, interest rates, and spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), with the ability to interpret and reconcile numeric data accurately
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of time-sensitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Loan Officers, operations, and secondary/capital markets teammates
Self-starter who takes ownership, asks thoughtful questions, and operates well in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Early-career professional with experience or internships in finance, capital markets, lending operations, or another analytical, process-driven role
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with high comfort working in spreadsheets (Excel/Sheets) and with numerical detail
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Genuine interest in mortgage lending, interest rates, and how pricing and pipeline decisions impact the economics of a lending business
Familiarity with operational systems (e.g., CRM, LOS, trading or pricing tools) and enthusiasm for learning new technology; prior exposure to lock desk or secondary marketing workflows is a plus, not a requirement
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with sales, operations, and other stakeholders
Track record of taking ownership of recurring workflows while also suggesting improvements to make processes more efficient over time
Self-starter mindset with a high sense of responsibility, curiosity, and willingness to grow into broader secondary marketing or capital markets responsibilities as the business scales
