Assistant Manager of School and Plains Programs
Denver Botanic Gardens is a renowned botanical garden and pioneer in water conservation, seeking a Full Time Assistant Manager of School and Plains Programs in their Education Department. This role involves managing and supporting various school and camp programs, supervising staff and volunteers, and ensuring effective communication and program delivery for PreK-12th grade students.

Responsibilities
Prepares and delivers assigned programs, including but not limited to onsite guided tours, school field trips, camps, events, classes, and offsite outreach
Manages schedules, records, and communicates programs, facilities, instructors, resources, contract requirements, registrations and other data
Coordinates logistics of and prepares for assigned programs, including but not limited to staffing, materials, equipment, records, and adherence to guidelines
Leads programs at Denver Botanic Gardens locations for groups of school-age students
Provides program introduction to groups of elementary-age students, teachers, and parent chaperones
Teaches online or virtual programs to school-age students
Teaches Cultivation Cruiser programs to groups of PreK-12th grade students at area schools and other locations
Ensures relevant records for instructing staff are up to date, including but not limited to training and adherence to health and safety guidelines
Maintains accurate and timely communication with staff at other Gardens’ sites. Ensures supervisors have up-to-date knowledge about all relevant matters
Leads children in hands-on, interactive activities during programming
Supervises children during lunchtimes or play times
Maintains a safe environment for participants and addresses first aid issues
Coordinates and supervises volunteers as part of the Education team, including regular information-sharing and communication. Implements volunteer training sessions specific to assigned programming
Maintains files, keeps records, and prepares reports as needed
Delivers presentations, trainings and programs as needed
Researches and resolves disputes and problems within established guidelines
Analyzes and communicates the effects or results of programs, efforts and initiatives to further departmental and institutional goals
Works with all departments to assure the highest quality experience for all Denver Botanic Gardens visitors
Works in cooperation with Plains Conservation Center stakeholders such as the City of Aurora staff to ensure program success. Follows established partnership protocols
Maintains satisfactory working relationships with managers, co-workers and others
Maintains a positive, helpful and solution-oriented demeanor when responding to or serving members and visitors
Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times

Qualification
Required
Must be able to maintain accurate records, files, and schedules
Must be able to effectively prioritize, supervise, and collaborate with other Gardens staff
Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public
Must currently possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado State driver's license, plus an acceptable driving record. Reliable access to a dependable, insured, and the privately-owned vehicle is necessary
Must currently qualify, or be able to qualify, as a childcare lead teacher, including CPR and First Aid Certification
Must have demonstrated knowledge, skill and ability in relevant programming and management
Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public
Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations
Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans when necessary, throughout the day
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams
Ability to work overtime as necessary
Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times
Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public
Must be committed to working safely at all times
Bachelor's degree and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required
Minimum of 4 years of experience in teaching school aged children is required
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience required
Position requires a valid driver's license
Preferred
Previous experience leading a program site, satellite location, or similar efforts
More extensive teaching or supervisory experience is preferred, including previous experience in formal community or higher education, school settings, outdoor education, or informal education at gardens or museums
