Responsibilities
The Quality Technician will be responsible for guiding production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, need repair, or scrap, while documenting and communicating identified defects, with accountability for escalating unresolved concerns to the quality engineering team and direct manager
This person is expected to comprehend current production quality standards, determine if ongoing production meets those standards, and execute efficiently against provided instructions, self-validate work for accuracy, check the quality of previous operations, and meet critical deadlines, including providing day-to-day production support on quality concerns and developing/implementing short- and long-term countermeasures to quality problems while maintaining operational efficiency
The Quality Technician shall have the capacity to communicate emerging and trending quality issues to prevent negative impact to the factory, align with the Quality engineering team to support incoming and in-process quality activities, and verbally provide constructive feedback, define/iterate/document standard work, and suggest process improvements, with ownership for detailed daily record keeping and reporting of quality issues referenced by technicians, engineers, and management
The Quality Technician will also be constructing and maintaining strong relationships with members of all nearby teams in multiple departments
Qualification
Required
Must have a high level of attention to detail, while working in an environment that requires quick action, with the ability to identify and differentiate between several defect types, determine severity and required response, and apply critical thinking skills to engage and troubleshoot new quality issues
Knowledge in basic measurement and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, torque wrenches, gauges, measuring tape) is a plus; experience with electro-mechanical components, welding, powder coating, or assembly processes (Desirable)
Communicates test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers; able to be part of the solution, with strong verbal and written communication skills in English, the ability to build solid relationships with several teams in multiple departments, and personable effectiveness in a fast-paced team environment
Typically involves a variety of operations (including troubleshooting and rework) requiring a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product, with the ability to communicate new defect information to team leadership and counterparts
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
