S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Senior Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join their Construction Services team. In this role, you will ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of construction projects through expert-level testing and inspection of materials, while also mentoring junior technicians and maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Lead Field Testing & Inspections: Conduct testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and building codes

Mentor and Develop Junior Technicians: Provide on-the-job training, technical guidance to less experienced staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture

Coordinate and Interpret Project Requirements: Review construction plans and specifications to determine testing needs, assign tasks to team members, and ensure timely, accurate reporting of results

Maintain Equipment and Accreditation Standards: Oversee the calibration and upkeep of testing equipment, ensuring compliance with AASHTO, ASTM, and other relevant quality standards

Adapt to Dynamic Schedules and Field Demands: Embrace a flexible work schedule that may include early mornings, weekends, or holidays, and remain responsive to shifting project timelines and field conditions

Required

A High School diploma/GED

A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials

Six(6) or more active certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils); DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete

Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
