Billing Associate

Responsibilities

Submit clean claims to payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers
Bill patients for their out-of-pocket expenses and follow up on overdue accounts
Process, post, and reconcile payments from insurance companies and patients to ensure accounts are accurate and up-to-date
Follow up on denied or unpaid claims, identify reasons for denial, and submit appeals when necessary
Maintain accurate and confidential patient billing records and ensure all documentation is organized for retrieval
Adhere to billing regulations and HIPAA privacy rules to ensure patient data is secure

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Proficiency with medical billing and electronic health record (EHR) software
Understanding of medical coding systems like CPT and ICD-10
Familiarity with claim forms, such as CMS-1500 and UB-04
Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with patients and insurance agents
Exceptional organizational and attention to detail
Problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve billing discrepancies
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines

Preferred

An associate's degree or professional certification is preferred
Previous experience in medical billing or a related field is a plus
