ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (DRAFTING)

NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC is seeking an Engineering Technician (Drafting) to join their Facilities ENG & ACQ Division. The role involves providing technical assistance to engineers, preparing designs and specifications, and managing project documentation.

Responsibilities

You will provide advice, solutions and assistance to the design and/or construction lead engineer on technical issues requiring knowledge of engineering practices and construction methods
You will assist in the preparation of designs, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects
You will review project plans, specifications, and submittals prior to contract award and during execution
You will present drawings in a clear, concise manner utilizing Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software and techniques
You will operate and manage the physical and electronic drawing vault for the PWD regional AOR

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) providing engineering and design services in support of facility and utility requirement plans for the region, 2) preparing designs, specifications and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects. 3) operating and managing physical and electronic drawing vault. 4) providing technical specifications and detailed labor and material cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding and for bid evaluation
