Engineer (Level 4)

Responsibilities
Provide mid-level security engineering support to the FAA Air Traffic Organization (ATO) NAS Enterprise Services Group (AJW-17)
Perform complex engineering tasks to develop, integrate, and maintain systems and networks that support FAA communications and safeguard the operational integrity of the National Airspace System (NAS)
Conduct requirements analysis, assist with system design, and participate in integration activities across the system development lifecycle
Contribute to performance assessments, prepare and review engineering documentation, and ensure work aligns with FAA standards and cybersecurity policies
Help implement configuration management processes, support system testing and evaluation, and provide technical input during technical interchange meetings
Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot technical issues, contribute to the development of transition and implementation plans for new or upgraded systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate emerging technologies into NAS operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering field (systems, electronic, avionics, computer, etc.) (may be substituted for 5 years of relevant experience)
6–10 years of experience (Master's Degree may substitute for 3 years; PhD may substitute for 7 years)
Foundational experience with requirements analysis, system testing, and performance assessments
Familiarity with federal mission-critical systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt to unique system engineering processes
Basic knowledge of configuration management (CM) practices, including maintaining documentation, tracking changes, and supporting audits
Ability to support network engineering and planning tasks, including assisting in evaluating system modifications for compliance with FAA and security standards
Familiarity with NIST standards and federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to collaboration platforms such as MS Teams, SharePoint, or Jira
Strong attention to detail, with ability to contribute to reports, documentation, and briefings under supervision of senior engineering staff
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary environments
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Preferred
Experience working with the FAA ATO
Familiarity with system lifecycle processes, including requirements analysis, integration, and testing
Basic knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-series and FIPS)
Active Secret security clearance
