Medical Assistant - Primary Care & Internal Medicine

Responsibilities

Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical history in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
Administer immunizations and medications as directed
Perform basic laboratory tests and point-of-care screenings
Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies
Support patient education and ensure a positive experience at every visit
Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth clinic flow

Qualification

Medical Assisting CertificationBLS CertificationClinical ExperienceCompassionate CarePatient Education

Required

High School diploma or GED preferred
Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date
A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire
One year of experience as a Medical Assistant (without certification) or as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant; or 6 months of experience as a certified Medical Assistant

Preferred

Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or achieved within one year of eligibility
