Environmental Engineering Trainee

NEOGOV is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Department of Environmental Protection as an Environmental Engineering Trainee. Responsibilities

Reviews permit applications and other authorizations associated with industrial wastewater discharges into waters of the Commonwealth
Performs mathematical and engineering calculations associated with potential and actual water pollution to verify data is accurate
Reviews treatment system design plans to assure completeness, adequacy of design, accuracy of calculations, mechanics of operation, and compliance with state and federal requirements
Identifies technical deficiencies and recommends additional measures where applicable
Conduct facility and project inspections to determine compliance with engineering design plans and specifications, permit requirements, and applicable rules, regulations, and statutes
Provide technical assistance to applicants, consultants, staff, and the public regarding environmental rules and regulations, and the policies and application requirements for the Department of Environmental Protection's Clean Water Program and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits
Corresponds in writing with other staff, the regulated community, and the public on matters related to environmental assessments, public notices, environmental compliance requirements, and construction plans/specifications for wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment projects

Required

A bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering; or
One year of experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits
This position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver's License
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
