Drafter I or II - Johnson County Area Office
The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Drafter I or II to join their team in Keene, TX. The role involves performing design work, field investigations, and collaborating on projects under the supervision of licensed professionals.

Qualification
Required
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
Drafter I: No experience required. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis
Drafter II: 2 YEARS Drafting, design, plan preparation (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
Drafter I: Basic roadway design
Drafter I: Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities
Drafter I: Higher mathematics
Drafter I: Performing basic design and drafting
Drafter I: Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
Drafter I: Follow verbal and written instructions
Drafter II: Advanced and specialized design/drafting procedures
Drafter II: Interactive graphic and design information systems
Drafter II: Performing intermediate drafting
Drafter II: Training in a classroom, office, or field environment
Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
Subject to noise
Subject to vibration
Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
Balancing-walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling
Talking expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
Hearing-perceive sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication
Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
This job has been identified as physically demanding and will require a pre-employment physical
Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing
Required to work weekends and holidays
Required to work hours other than 8 to 5
Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements
