Manager, Scenic Production

Responsibilities
Lead and manage the production department, overseeing fabrication work across props, woodshop, fabric, and paint
Plan and manage project materials, budgets, estimates, and production tracking
Schedule staff, monitor workflow, productivity, and timelines, and coordinate outside labor when needed
Maintain vendor relationships, manage bids, and oversee purchasing requests
Partner with warehouse teams to coordinate inventory pulls, deliveries, and onsite setup needs
Ensure props and assets meet quality standards and are completed, wrapped, labeled, and delivery-ready
Provide guidance and hands-on support related to fabrication techniques, tools, equipment, and rigging
Supervise, train, and develop staff while promoting a safe, collaborative, and creative work environment
Monitor tools, equipment, props, and décor condition and report or address issues as needed
Communicate project status, timelines, and delivery details to internal teams and clients
Anticipate and resolve production, design, or timeline challenges
Maintain working knowledge of venues, dock access, security procedures, and ballroom specifications
Support business development through estimating and partnership with project management and operations
Participate in event production, installations, load-ins, and tear-downs as needed
Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, training, and MGM Resorts policies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher
2 or more years of prior relevant experience in prop fabrication, construction, theatrical production, or the event industry
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong working knowledge of budgeting, estimating, and project tracking
Demonstrated ability to schedule teams, manage workflow, and support production timelines for larger staffs
Knowledge of carpentry, paint, fabric, foam, or other fabrication media
Familiarity with production tools, equipment, and specialty fabrication techniques
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels
Preferred
Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
