Quality Inspector

Responsibilities
Inspects complex purchased and internal manufactured parts for conformance to purchase order, print and specification requirements
Performs visual, dimensional, mechanical, and optical inspections per instructions
Works as the catalyst for implementation of the Company’s quality philosophy of 'right the first time' approach rather than inspecting quality into the product at a later stage
Performs First Article Inspections per AS9102
Uses basic to complex inspection measurement equipment including microscopes, optical comparator and coordinate measurement equipment to set up and verify dimensions and geometric tolerances for compliance
Performs all inspection requirements specified on the Traveler to allow the product to proceed through the department in an effective and timely manner
Participates in the departmental meetings and defective material reviews
Identifies rejection history in the department and work with the other team members to develop and implement changes that will eliminate the root cause for the defect
Participates in the development of the response to any Corrective Action reports issued to the department
Performs the required verification follow-up to the CAR response submitted by the department
Completes all necessary customer documentation for inspection activities
Be a resource for the Training initiatives in the department
Be a resource for performing First Piece Inspection of production runs in the department
Is a liaison between the department members and other functional areas for resolving issues that hinder production in the department. This may include interfacing with customers
Performs scheduled audits of the processes performed in the department for compliance to written procedures
Reviews and recommend changes to written procedures, as required, to keep them in line with business operations and customer requirements
Performs and documents the periodic inspection of inspection tools and media used in the manufacturing and inspection of product
Calibrates inspection tools used plus any employee tools that are identified in our calibration program
Conducts monthly 'Shelf Life Inventory Check' for products stored
Performs necessary testing on products to ensure compliance with customer requirements
Works from engineering drawings, internal and external specifications, quality assurance standards, test procedures, and verbal instructions to determine acceptance of product
Participates in continuous improvement team meetings
Assist in supporting customer onsite audits
Uses computer to document quality records, first article and dimensional reports, and job status, including the scanning and filing of records
May assist with lean initiatives and participate where required. Assists in training lower level inspectors
Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged
Qualification
Required
Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality systems and standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment and methods to determine conformity
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
Ability to communicate with all levels within production and get messages across that has the desired effect
Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and generates required steps to ensure success, and demonstrate persistence and determination when problem-solving
Strong focus on quality: ability and commitment to achieve total customer satisfaction in the quality of our products, services and decisions, implement systems and processes focused on excellence and continuous improvement
Strong focus on safety, including personal safety, safety of co-workers, and protection of property on the job in accordance and compliance with company practices, industry standards, and government regulations
Knowledge of calibration requirements/procedures
Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially Excel
