Day Care Licensing Representative

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Day Care Licensing Representative. This role involves conducting licensing studies and re-licensing reviews of day care centers and homes to ensure eligibility for licensing, while providing ongoing monitoring and inspections.

Responsibilities

Serves as Day Care Licensing Representative
Initiates re-licensing activity (requesting necessary inspections, providing reapplication forms, etc.) prior to the expiration date of day care center and home licenses
Provides ongoing monitoring of assigned day care centers and homes, visiting each at least once per year and making additional visits as needed
Investigates alleged violations of the Illinois Child Care Act and Department standards and regulations as applied to licensed, unlicensed, and license-exempt facilities
Coordinates services with other local, state, or federal standard-setting agencies concerned with inspecting, licensing, funding, and monitoring day care centers, day care homes, or group day care homes
Obtains fire and health clearances for day care facilities from the Department of Public Health and state and local fire inspectors
Maintains client records (to include filing documents as needed) in accordance with federal and state statutes and guidelines, Department rule, procedure, and accreditation standards, monitoring to ensure that all documentation from other Department sources has been included
Provides input into unit meetings
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Required

Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in early childhood education or child development
Requires a minimum of 18 hours of coursework in child development or early childhood education
Requires two years of professional experience in early childhood, day care center, kindergarten, or a day care licensing program
Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties
Requires appropriate, valid driver's license
