Responsibilities
Own day-to-day bookkeeping and monthly close (reconciliations, accruals, journal entries)
Maintain accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow
Ensure books are clean, organized, and audit-ready
Manage U.S. federal, state, and local compliance requirements
Oversee multi-state sales tax filings and compliance
Handle 1099s, W-2s, and contractor classification compliance
Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors
Oversee payroll processing for employees and contractors
Manage payroll taxes, benefits deductions, and filings
Ensure compliance with wage and labor requirements
Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and revenue tracking
Oversee payment processors and transaction fees
Partner with leadership on pricing structures and customer invoicing
Prepare monthly financial reports for leadership
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning
Provide clear financial insights to support business decisions
Assist with investor reporting and fundraising readiness as needed
Own and improve finance systems (accounting, payroll, expense management)
Design scalable processes as the company grows
Implement and maintain internal controls and documentation
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or related roles
Strong hands-on bookkeeping and accounting experience
Solid understanding of payroll, sales tax, and U.S. compliance
Experience working with startups or small-to-mid-size companies
High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
Preferred
Experience in SaaS, healthcare, or regulated industries
Experience with multi-state operations and remote teams
CPA or equivalent accounting background (not required)
Familiarity with investor reporting and audits
