Cash Application Specialist (40 hours/week)

The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely application of patient and insurance payments, denials, and correspondence to accounts, while supporting Patient Financial Services and Professional Billing Services.

Responsibilities
Sort and open incoming mail
Prepare all checks for scanning and deposit; investigate and resolve payment issues prior to deposit
Process all forms of payment including live check, credit card, and EFT Electronic Funds Transfer; batch for scanning and posting into EPIC
Use HP24 Health Pay 24 system to allocate funds to appropriate general ledger
Post insurance detail, manual or electronic, to appropriate accounts
Post all forms of payments patient and insurance to PB and HB billing system
Retain knowledge of current ANSI codes for appropriate posting of denials, patient liability and contractual obligations to perform correct system action to patient accounts
Maintain accurate daily deposit scanning detail for reconciliation through accounting department
Track and resolve unidentified payments from insurance companies and patients by researching and or working with Account Resolution and Customer Service Teams for timely resolution
Provide timely follow up of assigned inventory for the purpose of maintaining appropriate posting lag, and resolution of outstanding AR inventory
Keep supervisor manager informed of any problems or issues
Consistently meet productivity and or quality standards established by management, recommending new approaches for enhancing performance and productivity when appropriate
Provide assistance to Cash Management Analysts as needed
Train employees
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent GED
Must have speed and accuracy in data entry 10 key skills
Ability to apply strong analytical qualities
Excellent organizational skills
One year minor accounting skills, CRT training, and strong calculator experience
Experience interpreting and posting insurance remittances
Banking or other cash processing experience
