The Summer Intern, Occupational Safety will support the Safety department by coordinating safety training, conducting inspections, and creating reports for hazardous waste management, contributing to employee safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

Assist in conducting field and facilities inspections to ensure safety standards and regulations are met
Support the coordination and scheduling of safety training sessions for employees, ensuring training materials are up-to-date
Help create and maintain reports related to hazardous waste management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
Assist in the creation and maintenance of fire books, ensuring emergency procedures are clear and accessible
Support the planning and execution of evacuation drills, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed
Assist in organizing and executing Safety Day events, aimed at promoting safety awareness for all employees

Required

Experience in safety-related tasks or a similar administrative role
Basic knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, or other compliance standards
Experience working in an office or field environment supporting safety operations
Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail, especially in safety documentation and compliance reporting
English
Must be able to climb ladders and participate in physical inspections as part of the safety audits

Preferred

Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, or working with hazardous waste management
Experience assisting with training coordination or event management related to safety
Familiarity with emergency preparedness or safety protocols
Preferred Majors: Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Engineering
Ability to work in both field and office settings
Familiarity with safety management software or tools
Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, ANSI, FEMA) and procedures for hazardous materials and fire safety
