Groundwater Supervisor
NEOGOV is seeking a Groundwater Supervisor for the City of Aubrey, TX. This position involves managing water operations and maintenance functions, leading a team while also participating in daily operations, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Responsible for encouraging and facilitating a harmonious team working environment
Plans and supervises the daily operations of the water treatment plant in accordance with guidelines outlined by State and Federal agencies. Develops operating procedures and policies for the day-to-day operation
Provides interpretation and ensures staff’s understanding of and compliance with regulations and standards
Monitors water systems, makes regular inspections of facilities, and equipment ensuring continuous and effective operation. Identifies any problems and makes necessary adjustments
Reads meters, gauges and dials, records statistical data, and keeps logs of readings. Maintains appropriate chemical levels by adjusting system controls and/or adding, adjusting, and replacing chemicals in water systems
Maintains adequate inventory levels of materials and supplies used in water operations and meter work; purchases tools, materials and supplies as needed; identifies equipment needing to be repaired or replaced; and purchases new equipment as needed
Monitors water production and distribution systems for compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations
Collects water samples and performs laboratory test and records findings. Evaluates data and writes reports as required
Specifies and reviews planning for system improvements, development activities and for future needs relating to supply and distribution of water
Ensures proper instruction and training of personnel in the methods and procedures, proper use of equipment, preventative maintenance, system maintenance and repair, and proper safety protocols
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, all employees, and the general public
Performs work with relative independence and judgment with the initiative required to meet department operating requirements and process abnormalities
Use safe working practices in the performance of duties and ensure proper safety practices are used by all operators
Engage problem solving skills proactively and, when appropriate, in response to individual citizen concerns, community challenges, and subordinate coaching; provide technical assistance in difficult situations
Assists Public Works Director with gathering information and makes recommendations for equipment and materials that need to be purchased
Works safely in close proximity to vehicle traffic areas, setting up traffic warning devices, and barricades, and inspects safety items daily for proper placement and visibility
Identifies and informs supervisor of potential hazards, liability exposures, problem areas, public inquiries of the general public, and the status of work activities
Requires the flexibility to adhere to stand-by (on call) schedule as assigned, work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
Develops and schedules preventive maintenance programs including but not limited to pump and motor maintenance, fire hydrant flushing, valve exercising, meter reading and work orders, fire hydrant maintenance, etc
Counsel employees and work through disciplinary issues in compliance with City personnel rules and regulations and State and Federal law
Maintains division compliance with all policies, procedures, rules and regulations set forth by the City
Assists other departments and performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED
Experience with safety, training, and operation of equipment
Minimum five years of experience and knowledge in water production and distribution, with at least three years of supervisory experience preferred in City government
Class C Water License required
Valid Texas class C driver's license is required with a good driving record
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
Works mostly outdoors in extremes of heat and cold
Subject to call outs and standby
Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate tools and equipment associated with the job
Must be able to pass a drug and/or alcohol screen
Preferred
Certificate of training for courses related to water and safety training preferred
Class B Groundwater License
Class B CDL
