Engineering Aide/Engineering Technician

NEOGOV is seeking Engineering Aides and Technicians to work in the road and bridge divisions of Public Works. The role involves performing technical tasks in surveying, construction inspection, and materials testing for road and bridge construction projects.

Responsibilities

Participating as a survey crew member
Assisting in the inspection of construction projects
Conducting routine field tests on construction materials
Performing simple drafting tasks in the preparation of plans and layouts
Conducting routine field inspection test procedures
Performing general drafting work in the preparation of plans, layouts, and routine application of engineering specifications
Directing a survey crew on routine as well as more difficult surveying assignments
Conducting street and plant inspections on construction projects
Performing skilled drafting work with responsibility for the application of routine design standards and specifications in developing road and bridge plans
Directing the drafting assignments performed by Engineering Technician staff
Performing the more difficult application of road engineering design standards
Directing the engineering and inspection activities on assigned road and bridge construction projects
Serving as the lead worker of survey parties conducting complex surveying assignments

Required

Graduation from High School or its equivalent
Possession of a valid driver's license
Two (2) years of full-time paid experience in civil engineering technology; OR two (2) years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering technology or a related field; OR equivalent education/experience as determined by the Director of Human Resources and Administration
Possession of a valid driver's license
Three years of full-time paid verifiable experience in civil engineering technology; OR one (1) year of full-time paid verifiable experience in civil engineering technology AND two (2) years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering technology or a closely related field; OR equivalent education/experience as determined by the Director of Human Resources and Administration
Possession of a valid driver's license
Six (6) years of full-time paid verifiable experience in civil engineering technology; OR four (4) years of paid verifiable experience in civil engineering technology AND two (2) years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering technology or a related field; OR equivalent education/experience as determined by the Director of Human Resources and Administration
Possession of a valid driver's license
