Practice Coordinator

Responsibilities
Maintains filing system in organized manner
Answers phone promptly in a positive professional manner
Responds to voice mail and e-mail promptly
Demonstrates ability to be flexible, adjusting to changes necessary for the efficient operation of the department
Utilizes appropriate customer relation skills when interacting with patients, family members, physicians, hospital and other health system staff, visitors, etc. to ensure all customers are treated with respect and dignity
Ability to work effectively as a team member, demonstrating commitment to group goals
Demonstrate effective communication methods and skills, using line authority appropriately
Prioritizes work responsibilities and manages multiple demands
Maintain confidentiality of all patient, employee and hospital information
Attends hospital and departmental meetings as required or assigned
Schedule patient appointments
Make confirmation appointment calls to the patients the day prior to the scheduled appointment
Verify patient benefits prior to appointment
Enter demographics into computer system
Post surgeries and obtain pre-certification for surgeries
Provide the necessary coordination between the surgeon and the referring physicians
Provide patient with applicable information prior to surgery
Answer patients’ questions as appropriate or locate the proper resource person to talk to the patient to have their questions properly answered
Prepare patients’ charts for the following day
Type correspondence as needed
Assist in billing process and tracking of accounts receivables
Maintain complete and accurate medical records for each patient
File test/reports and signed dictation in a timely manner
May provide practice start-up support as needed for the practice
Responsible for collecting appropriate co-pays and maintaining an accurate Close of Day balance. Have all monies correctly tallied and make deposits ready for pickup each day
Qualification
Required
HS diploma/GED required
Three years health care experience required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration or business administration preferred
Knowledge of practice operations, physician billing, collections and practice development preferred
Specific experience within applicable practice specialty environment strongly preferred
