Intern I - Respiratory Therapist
Children's Wisconsin is a nationally recognized health system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. They are seeking an Intern I in Respiratory Therapy to perform support functions for the respiratory staff, including preparing equipment and maintaining patient care areas.

Responsibilities
Performs a variety of support functions to prepare and maintain equipment and supplies as needed by the respiratory staff
Sets up patient care rooms for admissions and cleans patient care equipment as dictated by hospital and department policy and procedures
Restocks equipment and supplies as needed maintaining appropriate levels per department guidelines
Requires ability to identify problems, troubleshoot and know resources available for finding the most efficient solutions to problems
Basic level of computer experience with the ability to navigate Microsoft office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
CPR certification obtained within six months of hire - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required
Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team
Performs basic clerical and communication functions within the unit (phones, patient inquiry, e-mail, voice-mail, Voalte, etc.) as needed
The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the department and its services
Possess willingness and initiative to successfully complete educational requirements and develop and learn new skills as required by the unit
This role will have a work schedule of approximately 2 - 8 hour shifts (every other week) which may likely be on the weekend. Actual schedule to be determined around class schedule and department needs
Qualification
Required
Current enrollment in the first year of a CoARC approved program in Respiratory Therapy
High school education
Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot and know resources available for finding the most efficient solutions to problems
Basic level of computer experience with the ability to navigate Microsoft office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
