Switchboard Operator/Receptionist

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Switchboard Operator/Receptionist to join their team. This role involves operating as the communication command post for security, emergencies, and visitors, while also managing phone calls and directing traffic within the facility.

Responsibilities

Answering phone calls and relaying the caller to an appropriate source
Documenting movement of students and staff on or off grounds
Documenting visitors
Documenting emergency responses
Being the central communications operator for the entire operation at the State Training School
Contacting law enforcement as appropriate
Filing documents
Assisting in mission-critical responses and coordinating as a focal point of operations
Logging and distributing emergency response supplies

No specific education or work experience required
Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to type at least 40 WPM net as demonstrated by the completion of a typing examination
