Responsibilities
Apply engineering principles, design criteria, and software tools to design and construct electrical distribution systems
Engineer electric service solutions by meeting with customers to understand needs and design appropriate service options
Develop design alternatives, prepare cost estimates, and create construction specifications
Support projects focused on system reliability, routine maintenance, and infrastructure improvements
Participate in larger engineering projects such as roadway relocations, subdivision developments, and planned system upgrades
Manage assigned work within a defined service territory in the Tuscaloosa area
Assist with after-hours and storm restoration efforts, including out-of-area/state response when needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
0–5 years of related experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including during emergency situations
Effective time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership and accountability
Working knowledge of safety practices, NESC, NEC, and company procedures
Preferred
Experience with electrical distribution design and construction
Familiarity with engineering and GIS tools such as CYME, JETS, CSS, DistGIS, SOCKET, ADMS/OMS
Understanding of electrical distribution standards and practices
