Staff Accountant - Fixed Assets & General Ledger
OPTK Networks is a growing telecommunications company focused on building and maintaining high-capacity fiber networks for businesses and communities. They are seeking a Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets & General Ledger to manage fixed asset and capital project accounting while supporting general accounting and audits.

Responsibilities
Track, compile, and record project costs in fixed asset accounts, including Construction in Progress (CIP) and Equipment in Progress (EIP)
Maintain accurate records for fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and periodic physical counts
Track fixed asset spending against capital budgets and management authorizations
Assist with month-end and year-end close, focusing on fixed asset and general ledger activity, including preparation and posting of depreciation, accruals, and other journal entries
Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts; investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
Track company prepaid expenses and ensure proper monthly amortization
Assist with the preparation of internal, external, and regulatory reports and supporting schedules
Help ensure timely and accurate filing of sales taxes, personal property returns, and other regulatory reports
Participate directly in external and internal audits by gathering documentation, preparing workpapers, and responding to auditor requests
Provide cross-functional support to the accounting team, serving as backup for Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions as needed
Suggest and support process improvements, including enhancements to fixed assets, capital project, and general ledger workflows
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in fixed assets or general ledger
Solid understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting
Strong reconciliation and analytical skills with high attention to detail
Proficiency in Excel (filters, lookups, pivots, basic formulas)
Clear communicator who collaborates well across accounting and operations teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
