USDA-ARS Foreign Arthropod-Borne Animal Diseases Fellowship
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is offering a research opportunity with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) focused on arthropod-borne animal diseases. The role involves conducting research to understand virus-host-vector interactions affecting livestock and requires a doctoral degree in relevant fields.

Responsibilities
Identify and understand exotic/ transboundary arthropod-borne disease challenges in U.S. livestock
Infecting, monitoring and determining infection and transmission rates of vector insects and/or host under various experimental conditions
Conduct research to support the overall research goals related to Rift Valley fever virus
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing or have received a doctoral degree in one of the relevant fields
Degree must have been received within the past five years or currently pursuing
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
Preferred
Previous experience in computational biology and statistics
Previous experience with infectious animal disease research and/or vector biology
Previous experience with research under high biosecurity (BSL-3 and higher)
Previous experience in genomic analyses of non-model organisms
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Previous experience in team and collaborative scientific environments
