Career Planning and Development Officer and Associate Director of the Advocacy Institute

Responsibilities
Support Co-Directors in strategic planning, program development, and delivery of comprehensive advocacy education initiatives
Coordinate all administrative aspects of advocacy programming, events, competitions, and fundraising activities
Manage correspondence, scheduling, travel arrangements, registration processes, and external competition coordination
Assume primary logistical responsibility for signature UB Law-hosted competitions, including:
Buffalo Niagara Trial Competition and National Trial Competition
Desmond and Weschler Moot Court Competitions
National ADR Competition
Create and maintain comprehensive programmatic files, budgetary tracking systems, and administrative documentation
Coordinate and support Trial Advocacy, Moot Court, and Dispute Resolution Programs, ensuring seamless integration with academic curriculum
Facilitate student team preparation, coach coordination, and competition logistics
Participate in coaching within Advocacy Institute programs
Coordinate, administer, and attend law school, legal community, and external professional events that enhance student, employer, and alumni relations
Represent the Career Services Office and Advocacy Institute at local, regional, and national professional gatherings
Increase institutional exposure and visibility through strategic event participation and relationship building
Cultivate new employment opportunities and partnerships through proactive community involvement and networking
Develop and maintain professional relationships that directly benefit student career outcomes and institutional reputation
Coordinate cultivation events and initiatives that strengthen the School of Law's position within the broader legal community
Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with legal employers, alumni, and industry professionals
Serve as primary liaison for employer recruitment initiatives, job postings, and partnership development
Coordinate and execute employer engagement activities including information sessions, networking events, interviews, and job fairs
Develop innovative approaches to employer outreach and relationship building
Manage employer database and communication systems to ensure effective ongoing engagement
Facilitate employer feedback processes to continuously improve student preparation and program effectiveness
Provide individualized career counseling and guidance to law students at all stages of their career journey
Advise students on job search strategies, interview preparation, resume development, and professional networking
Assist students in identifying career paths aligned with their interests, skills, and market opportunities
Maintain student interaction records and follow-up protocols to ensure comprehensive support
Serve as primary contact point and office manager for Career Services and Advocacy Institute operations
Develop, monitor, and manage comprehensive budgets for both divisions, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic resource allocation
Ensure timely job posting and manage all aspects of job posting workflows including approval/rejection processes, employer relationship coordination, and application material delivery; configure and oversee on-campus interview scheduling systems; coordinate job fairs and career events through the platform; maintain employer databases and facilitate employer engagement activities through the system's CRM functionality
Provide technical support for students, staff, and employers using the platform; troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with 12twenty support for resolution; train users on platform functionality; implement system updates and new features; ensure optimal platform performance and user experience across all modules including Career Services Hub, Outcome Data Analytics, and Employer Relations Management
Maintain primary responsibility for data collection, analysis, and maintenance within the 12Twenty career management system
Plan and facilitate logistics of on campus interviews, career fairs, weekly departmental offerings, and periodic large-scale departmental events
Plan and execute strategic planning initiatives, coordinating long-term goals with day-to-day operational needs
