Responsibilities

Engage in research and tool development that addresses atmospheric influences on lower intensity fires, more typical of prescribed fires than wildfires
Understand the relationship between atmospheric model output and on-the-ground weather at the earth’s surface
Measurement techniques for fire behavior, smoke lofting, turbulence, and other in situ properties
Remote sensing of fire behavior using UAS, satellites, or acoustics
Development of educational materials to communicate the state of fire weather science to fuel managers and fire fighters

Required

The qualified candidate should have received or be currently pursuing a master's degree in one of the relevant fields
