Child Protection Supervisor (Internal HSPH applicants only)
Hennepin County is seeking a Child Protection Supervisor for their Children and Family Services area in Human Services Public Health. This role involves supervising a unit of social workers providing case management and placement services to families facing issues of abuse and neglect.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direct supervision, and coaching to a unit of staff responsible for child protection services; select and develop staff, plan and assign work, and evaluate employee performance
Provide staff with direction and support to understand the impact and the importance of their work in relation to the county's mission and purpose and provide policy expertise in program areas related to child welfare
Serve as a program lead, subject matter expert, and ensure program compliance with applicable state and federal regulations
Work with the team to develop goals, performance standards, and plans for implementation while involving the team in problem solving
Interpret agency rules, regulations, and policies for staff; administer employer/employee labor contracts for the team
Establish team procedures to ensure appropriate deadlines are met
Participate in determining goals and objectives for the child protection area
Qualification
Required
One of the following: Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three years or more of experience as a social worker
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 quarter credits or more of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, principles of social welfare, and four years or more of supervised experience as a social worker
Six years or more of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker at Hennepin County
A valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver permit, and daily access to reliable transportation to travel to various sites throughout Hennepin County and sufficient to transport clients (including children)
Preferred
Experience working in a supervisory, coaching, mentorship, or other leadership role overseeing responsibilities and delegating tasks to team members
Experience working with child welfare services and programs
Demonstrating effective leadership in multicultural settings and providing culturally appropriate services for populations experiencing disparities
Managing workflow, assigning tasks, tracking data, and/or creating systems to improve workflow
Working closely with families to identify and meet their needs in relation to maintaining child safety and well-being
Working collaboratively with a wide range of providers and systems such as juvenile courts, county attorneys, law enforcement, and community stakeholders
Working with relevant data systems such as Social Services Information System (SSIS), Providing Resources to Improve Support in Minnesota (PRISM), Management of Administrative eXpenditure Information System (MAXIS), and MN Government Access (MGA)
Ability to hire, develop, and motivate individuals and teams, build and maintain an inclusive, respectful work environment, supporting the vision and strategic direction of the department and county
Ability to provide a creative and supportive environment that inspires staff to provide enhanced service delivery
Ability to manage a flexible schedule and work in a high volume, fast paced environment
Ability to build effective working relationships across the county, as well as in the community
Ability to multitask and manage projects and unexpected urgencies
Ability to understand complex information and synthesize and explain the information in a way that is easily understood by others
Ability to analyze problems, work on eliminating barriers, and implement effective solutions
