Responsibilities

Manage the implementation of CalSTRS sustainable investment strategies for private assets
Integrate material sustainability considerations within a dedicated SISS Portfolio
Oversee due diligence efforts and implement comprehensive strategies supporting sustainable investing in private climate solutions
Lead, mentor, and manage staff to ensure effective execution of the portfolio strategies and operational excellence

Required

Experience with sustainable investments and private assets investments
Experience identifying key investment merits and risks
Experience preparing memoranda and presentations
Experience working in an investment environment
Experience leading, coaching or managing staff
Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills
Knowledge of management techniques related to institutional investment portfolios, including design and construction of an investment portfolio, risk management, due diligence, negotiation and closure, monitoring, reporting restructuring, and exiting
Ability to promote teamwork and cross-functional collaboration and communication in support of CalSTRS' strategic goals
Ability to implement CalSTRS sustainable investment strategies
Ability to analyze a broad range of information and synthesize it into concise and coherent conclusions and recommendations
Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively prioritize workload to ensure all deadlines are met and re-direct job focus when needed

Preferred

CFA certification preferred
Professional certification in one of the following designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts (CAIA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential
