Professional Development Graduate Consultant

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Professional Development Graduate Consultant to support the Office of Career & Life Design. This role involves building and maintaining content for graduate students' professional development, leading events, and supporting various initiatives.

Responsibilities

Design asynchronous content, curriculum, and online resources on improving communication skills for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars (e.g., research storytelling, elevator pitches, visual/written communication, social media)
Develop and support interactive, in-person sessions (e.g., communication skills working groups or practice sessions) that foster skill-building through practice and peer feedback
Support and lead needs research regarding professional development initiatives for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across campus
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of workshops and events led by the Office of Career & Life Design
Co-teach and propose new programs if desired

Required

Experience with instructional content creation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and research skills, including the ability to locate and synthesize high-quality resources
Able to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; able to collaborate with a range of stakeholders
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Canvas
Attention to detail in editing, reviewing, and organizing materials
Interest in learning more about career development, professional development, and life design
Master's or PhD students enrolled in at least 9 credit hours Fall and Spring semesters
In good academic standing with advisor approval
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. This includes students on F-1 or J-1 visas, who are eligible for on-campus employment

Preferred

Experience developing asynchronous learning contents and modules
Experience with teaching and/or training in a university setting
Familiarity with career education resources, both internal and external to the university
Skills in event planning, coordination, and logistics
