Quality Assurance/Standards Specialist - Caswell Developmental Center

The Quality Assurance/Standards Specialist role involves reviewing and tracking safety events, preparing reports, and coordinating surveillance programs to ensure quality improvement in the facility.

Responsibilities

Review and track safety events involving residents in the facility
Review and track Event Reports and Intensive Reviews
Ensure appropriate follow-up, review, and closure of safety events in the patient safety data system (RL6) and the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Prepare reports for the Event Review Committee
Make recommendations to the Director of Quality Improvement regarding the need for Root Cause Analyses
Coordinate and operate the video camera surveillance program
Support consistent implementation of policies by providing interpretation, feedback, and staff guidance
Conduct record and EHR audits
Complete other audits assigned by the Director of QI
Consult with management regarding active treatment across the facility

Required

Master's degree in psychology, social work, education, health, business administration, marriage and family therapy or related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in professional level treatment programming for the applicable client population
Bachelor's degree in one of the fields listed above from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience as indicated above; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred

Demonstrates general knowledge of quality improvement program practices and the planning and development of assessment tools to mitigate safety events
Provides training on safety events and the operation of the Safety Database/RL6, offering professional consultation to staff
Operates video surveillance systems, accurately interprets findings, and maintains strict confidentiality
Exercises sound judgment and discretion when interpreting and applying quality standards, policies, and procedures
Communicates effectively with professional and administrative personnel to assess problems and coordinate resolutions
