Sunflower Wellness Inc is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant & Internal Auditor who will be responsible for ensuring proper reconciliations of general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP. This role will also establish and maintain the company's internal audit function and support external financial audits, while coordinating with other accounting staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

Perform daily tasks as assigned, some of which are included below

Maintain accurate and current reconciliations for Current Liability accounts: Intercompany (Due To / Due From), Balance Sheet (Due to/From), Income Statement (Revenue/COGS), Loans, Other Current Liabilities as assigned

Utilize FloQast, maintain the monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts

Review all transactions/activity in accounting system (Zoho Books)

Identify, question, and correct any incorrect entries and work to establish process or implement features of existing systems to prevent errors from continuing

Continuous system implementation and use of the FloQast software

Detailed reconciliations on all aspects of the GL and entries related to month-end close processes

Primarily utilize Zoho, FloQast, and Google Sheets, as well as other Google Workspace software, and implement usage of AI everywhere possible

Perform add-hoc analysis as requested

Plan, execute, and document internal audits of accounting processes, internal controls, and operational procedures

Develop and maintain internal audit programs, test plans, and control matrices

Identify control deficiencies and work with management to implement corrective actions

Support third-party financial audits, including PCAOB audits: Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting documentation, Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors, Prepare PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules and respond to auditor inquiries, Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations

Monitor compliance with SOX 404 requirements and documentation standards

Stay current on GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and public company accounting standards

Required

Five (5) years accounting experience with a publicly traded company

Experience supporting and/or participating in PCAOB audits

Internal audit experience or equivalent controls testing experience

Five (5) years detailed general ledger accounting experience

Two (2) years GAAP proficiency

Two (2) years experience with Intercompany accounting

Strong understanding of SOX 404 compliance and internal control frameworks

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred

CPA or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designation

Public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-tier firm)

FloQast knowledge/experience

Experience with SEC reporting and financial statement preparation
