Quality Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking a Quality Engineer for their Longmont, CO site, responsible for ensuring the quality of systems, software, and mechanical equipment for energy plants. The role involves managing non-conformance issues, facilitating continuous improvement, and supporting the Quality Management System to foster a culture of compliance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Reviewing, investigating, and triaging field and factory non-conformances, documenting containment, correction, and validation
Reviewing field returns and arranging for failure analysis with internal and external suppliers
Collaborating with all functions (Sales, Projects, Engineering, Operations, Sourcing, Services) to Stop Work early, resolve issues quickly, gather lessons learned, and implement improvement actions as needed
Facilitating cross-functional root cause analysis, applying problem-solving methods (8D, Apollo Reality Charting, 5-Why, Ishikawa, …) to reduce or eliminate recurrence. Leading RCA read-outs with leadership to drive agreement
Supporting Built-In Quality (BiQ) initiative in Manufacturing to provide improvement roadmap toward excellence in Quality
Following up regularly with corrective action and audit finding owners and supporting timely closure
Conduct periodic Voice of Customer calls with key customers to assess opportunities for improvement
Review customer survey responses for opportunities for improvement
Conduct data mining of quality data including AI to identify trends and themes
Supporting internal audit program to assure compliance and evaluating effectiveness of Quality Management System to deliver intended results
Supporting Quality KPIs: customer satisfaction, customer issue and nonconformance resolution, CoPQ, continuous improvement and corrective action cycle times, line stops, risk analysis
Communicating and mentoring widely to cultivate a quality culture of customer passion, compliance, and waste reduction
Support new emerging quality initiatives as needed

Required

Have a bachelor's degree in STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or University or equivalent
Have minimum 5 years in Quality role including demonstrated success facilitating cross-functional root cause analysis
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time for field service audits at customer sites within U.S and Canada

Preferred

ASQ CQE certification
Experience with ISO9001 and nuclear quality standards
Experience with ERP systems (SAP)
Hold Six Sigma Black or Green Belt and/or Lean certification
Be comfortable and effective working in new areas that require rapid problem solving
Experience in controls and/or turbines
Have solid understanding of key manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, Services processes
Excellent communicator, works well in a team environment, appreciates challenges
Flexible, continuous learner, willing to share knowledge and experience
Organizational skills to manage multiple and changing priorities
Presentation skills, both oral and written
