Sr. Lead Strategy (Technology Partnerships & Monetization)

As the Senior Lead of Strategy, you will develop and execute strategies for monetizing Rivian’s technology through partnerships and licensing, translating technical advancements into commercial opportunities.

Responsibilities
Strategic Commercialization: Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for monetizing Rivian’s core technical assets, including vehicle software, compute platforms, and self-driving capabilities
Partnership Identification & Outreach: Identify and cultivate a pipeline of global strategic partners (OEMs, technology providers, and mobility platforms) that align with Rivian’s long-term vision
Technical & Business Diligence: Lead the evaluation of partnership opportunities by collaborating deeply with our Engineering and Product teams to understand technical feasibility, integration requirements, and competitive differentiation
Deal Structuring & Negotiation Support: Collaborate with the Corporate and Business Development teams on the end-to-end process of structuring complex commercial agreements, including licensing terms, joint development agreements, and go-to-market frameworks
Relationship Management: Serve as the primary strategic lead for key partners, ensuring the health of the relationship and identifying "Phase 2" growth opportunities as technologies evolve
Internal Alignment: Act as the bridge between technical R&D and executive leadership, translating complex software/hardware milestones into clear business cases and financial impact models
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in Corporate Strategy, Business Development, or Tech Investment Banking, specifically within the automotive, autonomy, or high-tech SaaS sectors
A deep understanding of vehicle electronic architecture, software-defined vehicles (SDV), and the autonomous driving stack
Proven track record of successfully negotiating and closing high-stakes technology partnerships or licensing agreements
Ability to build complex financial models and business cases that quantify the value of IP and technical hardware/software
Exceptional ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into persuasive narratives for C-suite executives and external partners
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business
Preferred
MBA or advanced degree
