The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting a Human Resource Generalist in Helena. The HR Generalist will partner with leadership to manage human resources operations, ensuring compliance with policies and providing support on various personnel issues.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of human resources for an assigned program area
Manage the application of the human resources policies, procedures, and programs to ensure consistency and compliance with federal, state, and collective bargaining contracts
Consult, advise, and partner with management on personnel issues, contract interpretation, performance management, recruitment and selection, discipline, drug testing, workforce development, employee relations, training, worker’s compensation and safety
Serve as the human resources subject matter expert and primary resource for the Division(s) or District

Required

Associate's Degree in human resources, business, or public administration or a closely related field
One (1) year of human resources related experience
Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resource Management and Public Administration
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws
Knowledge of labor relations
Knowledge of drug testing laws and rules governing labor-management relations
Knowledge of contract negotiation techniques
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning
Knowledge of leadership techniques and coordination of people and resources
Knowledge of behaviors and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
Knowledge of learning and motivation, and assessment
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
Knowledge of customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and business communications
Knowledge of presentation and technical writing methods and techniques
