Civil Engineer II - City

The City of Oklahoma City is seeking a Civil Engineer II to support projects that enhance public safety and ensure regulatory compliance within the Engineering Division. This role involves analyzing, evaluating, designing, and executing engineering projects, including bridge and dam inspections, pavement management, and coordinating intergovernmental funding for street projects.

Responsibilities

Analyze, evaluate, design, and execute engineering projects
Develop engineering design specifications for proposed projects or systems modifications
Provide functional supervision to lower-level professional and technical staff
Review construction plans to ensure compliance with City codes, ordinances, standards, and overall project feasibility
Coordinate the proper implementation of plans in actual construction
Appraise property values and determine specific requirements for the completion of engineering projects

Possession of a Professional Engineer's License (Oklahoma)

Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator or higher)

Preferred

Experience in civil engineering design, including review, preparation, and interpretation of engineering plans, calculations, final plats, legal descriptions, and project specifications
Strong knowledge of paving and drainage design standards, as well as street construction practices such as proof rolling, concrete placement, hot mix asphalt application, and stabilized subgrade construction
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including FEMA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rules and regulations
Proficient in engineering software tools, including HEC-RAS (Hydrologic Engineering Center – River Analysis System), HydroCAD (Hydrologic Computer-Aided Design), HY-8 (Hydraulic Design Software for Culverts), Hydraflow, and HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center – Hydrologic Modeling System)
Skilled in general office software, including Microsoft Excel and Word, for documentation, analysis, and reporting
