Information Technology Manager I

The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) is responsible for enhancing public safety through effective rehabilitation programs. The Information Technology Manager I will manage the Radio Communications Unit, overseeing implementations and support of radio communications across the state.

Responsibilities

Managing and overseeing the Radio Communications Unit (RCU) within Enterprise Information Services
Coordinating all aspects of CDCR radio communications implementations, maintenance and support in partnership with the California Office of Emergency Services
Responsible for the acquisition, implementation, security and maintenance and support of CDCR’s public radio communications statewide
Providing direction and leadership on Information Technology (IT) solutions to meet CDCR’s strategic business objectives
Demonstrating expertise in the areas of staff direction, team building and motivation, financial control, and achieving service delivery targets for quality and timeliness
Directly managing specialists and consultants by providing them with strategic and operational technical direction

Preferred

Possess strong writing, analytical, and research skills with the ability to compose accurate, concise, and detailed written determinations and proposed decisions
Possess the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to negotiate credibly and persuasively, with a variety of stakeholders
Demonstrate ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively
Exercise good judgement, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines
Possess knowledge of inventory management systems, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong understanding of logistics, including shipping and receiving processes, to accurately track and manage inventory at an enterprise level
Demonstrate a strong ability to research, understand, interpret, and articulate applicable laws, rules, and regulations and provide clear, concise, and effective written actions and documentation to support decisions
Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
Possess excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with difficult, sensitive, and confidential matters
Possess a strong background in public safety Radio Communications Network Systems, services, and technology
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the rules and regulations of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) relating to public safety communications
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the rules and regulations put forth in California Government Code and the State Administrative Manual (SAM) relating to public safety communications
