Responsibilities
Conduct a comprehensive pre-employment investigation for the CDOC pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute (C.R.S.) 17-1-103.8(2)(e)
Review and analyze all legal documents obtained through research and reports in order to determine if applicant is eligible to continue in the employment process
Conduct preliminary background search to identify individuals that are not eligible for employment based on criminal history and/or behavior which would prelude an individual from employment
Research and interpret legal documentation from the civil and criminal courts, District Attorneys' offices and police reports relating to criminal history and/or behaviors of prospective applicants and the nature of such charges
Research and analyze criminal charges, behaviors, and employment history of applicants in order to determine compliance with CDOC standards
Query confidential data from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, National Crime Information System and other criminal justice databases; analyze and interpret criminal history; research and obtain final dispositions of charges and other legal documentation
Conduct background integrity interviews to detect criminal conduct, behaviors and deception based on interview techniques
Manipulate various database tracking systems for pre-employment actions; manager data from supplemental applications and monitor data accuracy

Qualification
Required
Four (4) years of technical experience which must include two (2) years of experience in searching, querying, and modifying extensive and complex computer databases to obtain and analyze specific information
Working in an environment requiring significant levels of confidentiality
Providing exceptional customer service working with diverse populations and intense subject matter
Possess a valid driver's license
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Have NO felony convictions
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training
Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics
Must be 21 years of age
Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
Work with people of the opposite sex, diverse racial ethnic groups, mentally ill and emotionally disturbed offenders
Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire
Successful completion of a background investigation is required
Preferred
Relevant technical experience with the State of Colorado
Experience with NCIC/ CCIC databases interpreting computerized investigatory tools
Experience and/or strong knowledge of conducting pre-employment integrity interviews
Experience performing legal research and analyzing legal documents
Experience interpreting complex rules and regulations
Experience analyzing and interpreting state and federal statutes
