UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a full-time Patient Services Representative to join their team. In this role, you will guide patients through their healthcare journey, providing compassionate service and administrative support to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

Guide patients through the healthcare system with clear, empathetic communication
Follow up on unresolved patient inquiries to ensure continuity of care
Educate patients on financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when needed
Perform clerical duties such as scanning medical records, faxing, and managing documentation
Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete check-in at the front desk based on their preference
Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the time of service
Obtain necessary signatures for treatment and financial consent in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Schedule follow-up appointments and connect patients with ancillary services at checkout
Confirm and update patient registration information
Verify insurance benefits through online systems or direct communication with carriers
Provide a warm, welcoming greeting to all patients
Promote and assist with registration for the MyUPMC patient portal
Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits
Appropriately triage and direct phone calls to clinical staff or other departments

Required

Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required

Preferred

Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred
Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred
