Responsibilities
Under direct guidance, develop and execute project goals and technical work plans
Perform chemical analysis to identify problems and opportunities to support product development, nutritional labeling, quality programs, and applied research
Communicate with direct team members and leaders to provide analytical guidance to other business teams
Contribute to development and continuous improvement of test methods, technical procedures, and other laboratory processes
Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment; troubleshoot and repair
Champion a positive food safety culture, take ownership, and empower others to take immediate action on matters concerning food safety
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Food Science
Practical hands-on laboratory experience
Basic knowledge of statistical and analytical tools and fundamentals
Ability to travel, up to 25%
Standing for up to 8 hours a day
Use of laboratory equipment – ovens, balances, furnaces, blenders, centrifuges, spectroscopy and chromatography instrumentation, wet chemistry
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds periodically
Pushing/pulling laboratory carts
Work with solvents/acids/bases in fume hoods
Work in cold rooms/freezers
Work in and around cramped/confined spaces
Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders
Exposure to manufacturing environments including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions
Exposure to food tasting and smells including all food allergens
