Water Production PRV Maintenance Technician

The Village of Ruidoso is seeking a Water Production PRV Maintenance Technician to support water production operations. The technician will perform maintenance and repairs on pressure reducing valves and various mechanical parts at water treatment plants, ensuring the facilities are well-maintained and operational.

Responsibilities

Assist with pressure reducing valve (PRV) replacement, maintenance, and installation. Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot, inspect, and test valves at specified job sites
Ability and knowledge to reference appropriate valve manuals for repair requirements
Obtain all site specific and safety related training to perform valve repair services
Experience in reading technical diagrams
Exhibit an ability to effectively communicate with plant personnel regarding valves and instrumentation equipment and customer requirements
Assists Plant Operators with routine maintenance
Assists with repairing and maintaining water production equipment and system to include flushing of water filters and changing chlorine cylinders
Assist in daily chemical analyses, in accordance with state mandated requirements and federal guidelines, for alkalinity, pH, hardness, chlorine, color, turbidity, temperature, and chlorides
Assists Plant Operators in taking water samples as required by New Mexico Environment Department
Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the various Water Production facilities and structures
Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on vehicles and light equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair; performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
Diagnose, schedule, and perform equipment maintenance/preventative maintenance accurately and timely
Broad knowledge of standard practices and procedures of construction trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC and mechanical systems for the purpose of performing general building maintenances and repairs
Complete work orders and perform necessary repairs
Performs routine preventative maintenance on buildings and mechanical equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on motors, generators, pressure reducing valves and pumps
Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks, opens clogged lines and drains, replaces seals and other minor parts; repairs, replaces and maintains hot water heaters and other appliances
Inspects drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters or perform other general maintenance actions
Responsible for outside ground maintenance to include but not limited to all Water Production buildings, wells, tanks, and other sites as directed by the Water Production Manager
Attend training for Water Level Certifications and gain certification for a Level 1 Operator within 2 years. Continue training & testing for additional Water Levels
Digs trenches and places pipes or cables for drains & miscellaneous services
Completes equipment maintenance, inspections, and checklists
Completes log of work activities
Assists and works cooperatively with other Public Works Department Staff on projects
Attend safety meetings and assist fellow employees with safety practices and procedures
Responsible for cleanliness of work areas
Responsible for maintenance of assigned vehicle
Responsible for general maintenance of hand tools and gas-powered equipment including cleaning and care for tools and equipment
Paints or repairs roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building
Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repairs or replaces using hand tools
May constructs forms for pouring concrete, lays forms, mixes and pours, finishes and repairs concrete for and slabs
Repairing of small buildings for housing of chlorination units, pumps or PRV’s
Applies shock absorbing, sound deadening and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls
Provides grounds keeping services, such as mowing, weed eating and snow removal
Performs general cleaning of properties or buildings
Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
May make recommendations during the preparation of department budget
Obtains material lists and quotes for Water Productions projects and repairs
Assists Production Manager with obtaining contractors and specialists for Water Production projects and repairs
Assists and supports other village departments when needed
Fills out personal timesheet and appropriate paid leave slips, overtime slips, and any other required paperwork
Ensures proper purchasing procedures are followed
Assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state, and federal guidelines
Ensures that any on-the job injury is reported immediately and followed up with appropriate forms and actions
Ensures any reports of harassment are immediately reported and appropriate actions are taken
Ensure compliance with all Village of Ruidoso policies and procedures including but not limited to Procurement, IT, Personnel Manual, Safety Manual etc
Alerts Water Production Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage of buildings or properties
Reports any suspected fraud and/or abuse to the Water Production Manager or Public Works Director
Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required

Required

High School Education or Equivalent required
Two years' experience in maintenance or construction required
State of New Mexico level 1 water certification required within 2 years of date of hire
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass criminal history checks
Must be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with agency 'Drug Free' Policy
Must possess and maintain valid New Mexico motor vehicle operator's permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required
Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law
MVR background checks will be conducted by the Village

Preferred

Building and ground maintenance experience preferred
Prefer State of New Mexico level 1 water certification
