Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer
GEI Consultants, Inc. is a growing company focused on solving complex challenges related to climate change and critical infrastructure. They are seeking a Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer to lead inspection, evaluation, design, and construction observation of hydraulic structures, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities
Lead large projects within technical specialty and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams
Responsibilities will include structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures related to dams, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and other water resource projects
Typical structures include spillways, outlet works, canals, storm drainage facilities, flood walls, and pump stations
Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company
Mentor junior staff
Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel
Review technical reports, letters and memoranda
Lead, or provide oversight for preparation of design calculations, permit documents, and reports
Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and bid documents
Lead development of project plans, schedules and budgets
Lead proposals to provide professional services and support other GEI offices with proposals and the delivery of professional services
Qualification
Required
B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
10 years of professional experience in Civil/Structural Engineering
Licensed as Professional Engineer in California or ability to obtain within one year of hire date
Strong theoretical background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element modeling with expertise in using standard structural engineering software (SAP2000 and LS DYNA/ANSYS)
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well alone and in a team atmosphere
Willing to travel to site locations, as-needed, including field assignments
Valid driver's license
Preferred
M.S./Ph.D degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering to assist in the design of soil/structure interaction elements
