Responsibilities

Undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects - container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal defense and development schemes
Maritime design and planning, including maritime codes/standards such as USACE, PIANC, OCIMF
Structural design for wharves, piles, sheet piles, bulkheads, dolphins, across the United States
Independently prepare engineering related calculations and develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
Provides guidance to entry level engineers
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision
Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed
Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed
Occasional short to medium term site visits may also become necessary depending on project requirements

Required

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field
2 year of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid Driver's license required

Preferred

Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)
Professional Engineering (PE) License
Five (5) years or more of related experience
Experience in the design of marine structures including wharves, piles, sheet piles, and dolphins in seismic zones
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, and STAAD.Pro
Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Demonstrable interest in developing a career in Ports & Marine Engineering
Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
