Responsibilities
Play a vital leadership role in the oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the county
Serve as the chief administrative and operating officer in the County Administrator’s absence
Serve as a primary point of contact for resolving complex professional, administrative, and managerial issues across the organization
Responsible for planning, directing and supervising the Finance department
Work with the County Administrator in the development of the annual budget
Oversee the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
Review various County reports and processes
Prepare and maintain various records and files
Ensure financial documents comply with local, state, and federal laws
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in public administration, business management, accounting, finance, or related field
Five or more years of experience in an administrative/financial capacity in local government
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
Previous municipal or county government financial experience in Virginia
Certified Public Accountant certification
A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in organizations such as VLGMA and Virginia Government Finance Officer Association (VGFOA)
