The State of Alaska's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking an Engineer/Architect 1 to support bridge design and management tasks. The role involves performing structural engineering analysis, completing bridge safety inspections, and preparing construction plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

Perform structural engineering analysis and calculations for the development of bridge load ratings, bridge management tasks, and overload permit assessment
Complete bridge safety inspections, including routine, non-redundant steel tension member (NSTM), low water, and in-depth inspections
Some design and preparation of bridge construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and report tasks may be involved

Required

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect
Valid Alaska Driver's License
Physically able to descend / ascend bridge embankments and riverbanks
A sample bridge load rating or set of design calculations
Cover letter describing how you possess the position specific competencies listed in the 'Who We Are Looking For' section
Proof of your Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license
List of three professional references with current phone numbers
Education credentials verification (transcripts required)

Preferred

Technical writing sample (e.g., bridge type selection or routine inspection report preferred but not required)
