Responsibilities

Advise law enforcement agents regarding possible criminal violations. Review law enforcement reports and case information. Advise and assist law enforcement on Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigations
Prepare cases for county grand jury consideration and final disposition. Prepare appropriate indictments in time to be properly reviewed and approved by the Attorney General. Prepare cases for trial. Seek appropriate resolution of all cases in a timely manner
Make court appearances and trial presentations on behalf of the State of South Carolina and the SC Attorney General’s Office
Prepare orders and any other necessary documentation to obtain subscriber information from the internet and electronic service providers
Assist in training and making presentations to law enforcement agencies, local community groups, schools, or related interest groups on ICAC issues. Respond to citizen inquiries
Performs other related duties as requested by the Attorney General, Chief Deputy Attorney General, and supervising attorney

Qualification

Required

A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school
Five years of experience as a practicing attorney
Must be a member and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar
Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements
DRUG SCREENING, CREDIT CHECK, DELINQUENT TAX CHECK, SLED BACKGROUND CHECK, AND GRIEVANCE CHECK REQUIRED

Preferred

Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina
Knowledge of general case, statutory, and common law
Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and rules of guidance
Ability to interpret and apply laws in court decisions
Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments
Ability to express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically
Ability to plan and direct the activities of a legal staff
