Building Inspector III
NEOGOV is seeking a Building Inspector III to join Polk County's Community Development Department. The role involves inspecting residential and commercial buildings for compliance with County building and zoning codes.

Responsibilities
Inspects residential and commercial buildings and plans for compliance with the County building and zoning codes
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or successful completion of the equivalent GED
Two (2) years of experience in construction or building inspection, or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above
Must possess the following Oregon Certificates: Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC), Structural Inspector A Level (SIA), Residential Structural Inspector (CAS), A Level Plans Examiner (PEA), Residential Plans Examiner (CAX), A Level Mechanical Inspector (MIA), and Residential Plumbing Inspector (CAP) at time of hire
Must have the ability to obtain Residential Electrical Inspector (CAE) and Fire and Life Safety Certification (PEF) within 12 months of hire
Possession of valid Oregon driver's license at time of appointment
Preferred
Preference given to those who also possess State of Oregon Certificates for A Level Electrical Inspector, or A Level Plumbing Inspector

Health Insurance (medical, dental, Rx and vision): We offer Kaiser Permanente and PacificSource. Coverage varies according to bargaining unit. Employee share of the premium will vary according to bargaining unit and full-time or part-time status.
Vacation: New full-time employees generally earn 12 vacation days per year; this increases with years of service. Part-time employees earn a pro-rated amount.
Holidays: A generous number of paid holidays annually. This will vary according to bargaining unit.
Personal Leave Days: These are floating holidays. The number of Personal Leave Days varies according to bargaining unit.
Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (pro-rated for part time) with no maximum accrual.
Other Leaves: Jury duty, bereavement, military.
Retirement: We participate in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). Polk County picks up the employee's share of the retirement contribution (6% of wages.)
