PAYROLL SPECIALIST

The Payroll Specialist will prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for over 250 employees and contractors, while also supporting the Accounting Team with various payroll-related tasks.

Responsibilities

Preparing and processing twice-monthly payroll
Ensuring accurate information for approval by deadlines
Processing and reviewing timecards within designated HR/payroll software (Quickbooks) and providing follow-up with managers and team leads as needed
Tracking, recording, and processing wage garnishments as they are received
Assisting HR with new hire paperwork and managing the terminations within payroll software for all staff
Providing excellent service when communicating with all other team members regarding questions pertaining to payroll
Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and personal information
Working with accounting to reconcile payroll transactions
Maintaining personal time off (PTO) records and ensuring PTO is paid out as needed upon terminations
Handling all incoming calls/inquiries related to payroll
Researching, resolving and communicating resolutions to all interested parties with payroll issues or concerns related to taxation, W-2s, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, and bonuses
Helping to ensure payroll practices meet government compliance
Providing support to accounting with data entry in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Required

2-3 years of payroll experience required
Experience with Quickbooks preferred
Working knowledge of Google Workspace products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and time-management skills
Flexibility and the willingness to be cross-trained and assist as needed
Superior attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines
The ability to occasionally manage conflicting priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment
The ability to perform in a team environment with minimum supervision
The ability to perform well under pressure
The ability to adjust to changing priorities and workloads
The ability to learn and apply specific knowledge and technological skills needed for the job
A friendly and outgoing personality and the ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally for customers with a professional, positive attitude
